It’s a weekly celebration of American ingenuity. We call it Tinker. Hack. Invent. and it takes place every Saturday. Join our Tinker Task Force and have a blast trying your hand at all sorts of things. Then, on the last Saturday of every month, we open our doors to crafters, basement scientists, hobbyists, inventive foodies, tinkerers — the kind of folks you’ll find at our annual Maker Faire — and ask them to share their expertise and enthusiasm with museum visitors. Americans are famous for their ingenuity and resourcefulness, for their eagerness to improve and explore new ideas. This is your chance to learn firsthand how that spirit is alive and well today. Come explore your own ingenuity. Try your hand at something new, something different. The activities change month to month. Hands-on. How-to, DIY, science and more! The only limitation is your imagination. And it’s free* with museum admission or membership.

Join the ghoulish Halloween fun as we look at the science behind Halloween magic.
Community Makers for October 25th – Poor Man’s Props and our Richard Jeryan, President of Complex Weavers
Shake, rattle, and weave! Join the fun as we host two makers this month. Poor Man Props, a Southeast Michigan based Halloween prop building club, was founded in 2013. Members share their expertise in electronics, welding, wood working, etc. to help team mates create Halloween props. Richard Jeryan is a master weaver and President of Complex Weavers, an international guild of weavers dedicated to expanding the boundaries of hand weaving and the sharing of innovative ideas.
November - Touchdown with Gridiron Glory
Come Salute our newest exhibit, Gridiron Glory: The Best of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and salute the sport of football by creating your own charging football player.
Community Maker for November 29th – Multiplexica 2014
Veteran musician and Maker Faire inventor Curtis Glatter will be hosting a workshop about his newest multi-functional musical invention called Multiplexica2014. Four years in the Making, the invention was premiered at the 2014 Maker Faire Detroit.

Community Maker for December 28th – 501st Legion – Vadar’s Fist – Star War’s Costuming Group
Come Feel the Force! The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity. Learn about the innovation that goes into creating these amazing costumes and take a selfie with your favorite Star War’s character.

what to bring, what to wear
The exhibits of the Henry Ford Museum are spread across several acres, all indoors. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes are recommended. Wheelchairs and electric scooters are available to rent for a fee at the IMAX® and Clocktower entrances. Electric scooter supplies are limited; please arrive early if you plan to rent one. You are welcome to bring your own wheelchairs, electric scooters and children's strollers; however, upright electric scooters (Segways) are not allowed on the premises.
Bring a camera; photography is allowed in most areas of the museum.

Tickets to the Henry Ford Museum are available online, through The Henry Ford Call Center (open 7 days a week, 9 am-5 pm) at 313.982.6001 and at all admissions counters. Tickets can be mailed when reservations are made 2 weeks or more in advance. Tickets purchased less than 2 weeks out will be held at IMAX® Will Call.

The Henry Ford is located in Dearborn, Michigan on the corner of Village Road and Oakwood Boulevard, just west of the Southfield Freeway (M-39) and south of Michigan Avenue (US-12).

From the East or West via I-94:
Take I-94 to the Oakwood Boulevard exit; go north on Oakwood. The Henry Ford is 2.5 miles from the exit on the corner of Village Road and Oakwood Boulevard.
From the South via I-75:
Exit to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39); drive 4.1 miles to Oakwood Boulevard (Exit 4). Left on Oakwood and drive 1.8 miles.
From the North via Southfield Road (or I-96):
Take Southfield Freeway (M-39) south 4.5 miles past I-96 and exit at Michigan avenue (Exit 6). Continue on the Southfield service drive (veer left) for .5 mile. At the first stoplight, turn right onto Village Road (through the iron gates) and drive .75 mile.
