Q: How many students and adult chaperones do I need to qualify for a field trip?
A: A minimum of 15 students and paying adult chaperones are required to obtain the discounted rate.
Q: What are your hours?
A: We are open daily from 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Greenfield Village and Ford Rouge Factory tour hours vary seasonally.
Q: What is the school group rate?
A: 2013-2014 school year rates are $8 per venue (Village, Museum, IMAX Theatre, Ford Rouge Factory Tour). The rate is the same for students and adult chaperones, certified teachers are free to Village, Museum, and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour at a rate of 1 complimentary ticket for every 25 students booked on the field trip. All guests pay for IMAX Theatre tickets.
Q: Does my group have to arrive together?
A: Your group does not have to arrive at the same time, however only the contact on the reservation can add to the reservation. Please let chaperones know a location where they can meet your group.
Q: Do you have eating facilities for groups?
A: Yes, we have a student dining area located in Henry Ford Museum. This area can be reserved in ½ hour increments, can accommodate up to 200 people, and is free of charge. There are vending machines for cold beverages only, located in the dining area. The village has numerous eating areas which are on first-come, first serve basis. Likewise, there is a student dining area located at the Ford Rouge Factory Tour Visitor Center. This area can be reserved in ½ hour increments, can accommodate up to 96 people, and is fee of charge. Snack and beverage vending machines are also available in this area.
Q: What options do you have should my students wish to purchase their lunches?
A: On-Site restaurants in the Museum include Michigan Café and the Weinermobile. In the Village we have the State Street Lunch Stand and A Taste of History Restaurant (hours vary by location and season, please call for updated information). We also offer boxed lunches that require advance reservations and payment at least two weeks prior to your visit.
Q: Do you have a place for us to store lunches?
A: We have a limited amount of lunch wagons. They are available on a first come-first serve basis. We recommend chaperones bring back packs for the lunches.
Q: How many adult chaperones do you require?
A: One adult group leader is required for every 10 students. This applies to all student groups K through 12. Groups who do not meet this requirement will be denied entry.
Q: What is your payment policy?
A: Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village admission can be paid upon arrival, but must be reserved in advance. For speedier service upon arrival, we suggest paying in advance so that tickets will be printed and ready for pick-up. We can also mail pre-paid tickets directly to you for a $5 mailing fee. Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village tickets are refundable or reusable if the ticket hasn’t been scanned. Unused tickets can be used up to one year after their printed date. Special programs which include IMAX, Ford Rouge Factory Tour, Pre-ordered lunches, If I Had a Hammer, One Room School, Eagle Tavern Reservations and Guided Tours must be paid 2 weeks in advance. There are no refunds or exchanges on special programs.
Q: Do I have to purchase my tickets in advance for the Museum or Village?
A: You have to reserve your tickets in advance to receive school group rates and services, but you do not have to pay for them in advance. However, we highly recommend advance payment. If your tickets are pre-paid then you will avoid long admission lines.
Q: Where do I check-in?
A: Our Call Center Group Services Coordinators can advise you on available check-in locations. This information is also indicated on your confirmation under the heading of delivery method. Groups may check in at the Clock Tower Entrance of the Henry Ford Museum (Museum, IMAX, and Factory Tour visits using The Henry Ford bus transportation), the Greenfield Village Ticket Building (Village visits), or the Ford Rouge Factory Tour Visitor Center (for groups using their own bus transportation).
Q: What methods of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash (large bills only and no coins), checks (made payable to The Henry Ford), and major credit cards (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover). We do not accept purchase orders in lieu of payment.
Q: What if I have extra village and museum tickets?
A: Village and museum tickets are valid for one year from date of issue. Refunds are available on unused village and museum tickets and will be processed through the call center.
Q: Do you have any "scavenger hunts"?
A: Available on our website is a tool called History Hunters. They are one page thematic, self-directed, onsite exploration tools to focus student looking, listening and doing at The Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village and Ford Rouge Factory Tour. Please download History Hunters before your visit as copies are not available onsite.
Q: How much are the rides in Greenfield Village?
A: A one-day transportation ride pass which includes unlimited rides on the Model T, Weiser Railroad, Model AA Bus, Horse-Drawn Vehicles, and the Carousel can be reserved in advance at a discounted rate of $8 per person. This discount will not be available for groups without advance notice. Individual tickets may be purchased for the Model T ($2 per person, per ride), Weiser Railroad ($5 per person for unlimited rides), Model AA Bus (50¢ per person, per ride), and Carousel ($2 per person, per ride). Individual tickets are not available to ride the Horse-Drawn vehicles. Children 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult chaperone an all rides.
Q: What can I expect to see on the Ford Rouge Factory Tour?
A: The Ford Rouge Factory Tour is a five part experience consisting of two theatres, an observation deck, the final assembly of the Dearborn Truck Plant, and the Legacy Gallery. The tour operates on a open flow schedule which enables your group to visit any part of the tour in any order that you desire. The two films which provide a history and a future of the Ford Motor Company run in sequence every 20 minutes. Seating for the films is available on a first come, first served basis. On the Observation Deck your group will be able to learn more about some of Ford Motor Company’s eco-friendly enhancements including the world’s largest living rood. The Legacy Gallery has a small collection of cars manufactured by Ford Motor Company. An outdoor living lab tour of the grounds near the Visitor Center is also available seasonally.
Q: Can I take my own bus to the Ford Rouge Factory Tour?
A: You can now drive your school buses directly to the Rouge complex. This ensures your group will arrive at the same time. We still offer transportation from the museum on our buses should you choose to do so. However keep in mind buses are loaded on a first-come, first-served basis which could mean your group may be separated.
Q: Will my class be seated together at the IMAX Theater?
A: Seating at the IMAX Theater is on a first come-first served basis. We try our best to accommodate group seating but it is not guaranteed. We recommend arriving at least thirty minutes before your show time for best available seating options.
