Attached to the Visitor Center is the Dearborn Truck Plant, Ford Motor Company’s state of the art manufacturing facility.  Here you can walk a 1/3 mile elevated walkway and view the plant’s final assembly line. 

From the elevated walkway you’ll see the trim line for final assembly which includes: 5 trim lines; 1 box build line; 1 door build line and the final inspection area. You’ll see the F-150 come into the plant as an empty shell and leave as a complete F-150.
 
There are interactive kiosks located throughout the plant walkways to learn and see more.  New for 2009, is our Test Drive Smart Tools display. Here you will be able to simulate putting a part in place on an F-150 using the same advanced tools used on the line. This display helps you understand the connections between advanced tooling (process), well trained and dedicated workers (people) and the end quality of the vehicle (product).

Of course the friendly staff stationed along the tour route also helps explain what you’re seeing and answers any questions you may have.
