4th 5th Grades—Looking At Evidence and Taking a Stand (2.6 MB)* Students will investigate some of the ways citizens participate in a democracy through classroom discussion, examination of primary source materials evidence and exploration of the exhibit With Liberty and Justice for All. Students will take a stand on an issue that divided citizens by role playing a leader from the past.
6th-8th Grades—Looking At Evidence and Taking Sides (2.4 MB)* Students will investigate some of the ways citizens decide on and debate issues in a democracy through classroom discussion, examination of primary source materials evidence and exploration of the exhibit With Liberty and Justice for All. Students will take sides and write an editorial on an issue that divided citizens in the past.
9th-12th Grades—Looking At Evidence and Taking Action (3.5 MB)* Students will investigate some of the ways citizens take action and build movements in a democracy through classroom discussion, examination of primary source materials evidence and exploration of the exhibit With Liberty and Justice for All. Students will develop and present an action plan of strategies for addressing a current public policy issue.
