My earliest childhood recolections revolve around the automobile with Henry Ford and his cars most prominant. I am told that as an infant that a ride around the block in Dad's new 1957 Fairlane was a sure way to get me to sleep. When I was about five years old, my parents took me to a car show where a kind gentleman let me sit in his Model T. Only meeting Henry himself could have left a more lasting impession. In 1998, I took a vacation witch included three days in Dearborn. I stayed at the Dearborn Inn, mingled with automotive executives and performed a thruough examination of The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village all to my complete satisfaction.
Thank you for this page, the experience, and mostly, Thank You Henry Ford.

It is hard to really understand the full impact of this great man without a visit to the true Ford Country, Detroit! Despite the man's notable achievements it remains clear, Henry Ford was a man of sincere desire. The desire to give from a notion of dedication to life and family. Glenn W. Apparently you do not want people to have access to the design of your quadricycle. Why, what harm would it do? If Ford needs more money then maybe you could get together with Sid and sell his drawings. I would think that you would like the interest in your company. I dont understand! Its not like we will start another auto company that will compete with you......Steve Steve <spr6005612@aol.com> Grand Rapids, MI USA - Sunday, April 09, 2000 at 12:56:37 (EDT) I liked this site and i wish to find more like it. I thought that it was an excellent invention, and that he started ALL of this. What I mean is, that Henry was the giver of ideas for the cars that are made today. Now, there are millions of kinds of cars, but started from the basics of, well, the quadricycle. Last summer I finally came. My wife, daughter, and I spent the day in the museum. It rained, so we didn't get to see the village, but I didn't mind because it took all day to see the everything in the museum. (Really, it's a two day adventure to see everything.) The new IMAX theater was under construction, so we didn't see that either. I look forward to returning to the museum village again and again. Other memories
May 18, 1996 - Sid Herbage writes:
We produced a complete set of part-drawings based on mainly on available
photographs (which we scanned with magnifiers). In Ford in Detroit sent
us a draftsman's sketch of the assembled car. All parts were made and
assembled in the apprentice workshops and we adhered as closely as we
were able (and that was pretty close) to the original. It was a full
sized replica and it worked!
We had a "media event" at the Crystal Palace Auto-Racing Circuit in
Southern England with the late Graham Hill (Formula-1 champion and father
of Damon Hill) at the tiller and lots of the national Press in attendance.
At that time, I amassed a quantity of pictures, sketches etc. of both the
original and the replica which came to light late last year and I
realised that 1996 would be the 100th anniversary. Since I am an Engineer
I thought it would be fun to do drawings of the car as accurately and in
as much detail as possible using modern CAD techniques. So I started the
whole process of examining and measuring the photographs again to
re-create what we originally did (drawing-wise) in the 1960's.
