April 2010 Pic of the Month A View from the Pit and Paddock: The Dave Friedman Racing Collection |
It took years of dedicated work by engineers, designers and mechanics to develop the Ford Mark IV. For decades, the 24-Hours Le Mans race--one of the most grueling races in motor sports--had been the domain of European drivers and manufacturers. That changed in 1966 when Ford GTs finished in first, second, and third place. The following year, Ford made it two in a row when Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt drove this Ford-engineered, Shelby-American-built 500-horsepower car to victory. This iconic American racecar is part of the collections of The Henry Ford. 71.83.1 |
