I remember the Fall of 1994 When I received my portion of a lawsuit from a car accident, I could not WAIT to get a car of my own. I saw Connie on a Toyota car lot. I had went there a few times to look and marvel at her size. Turns out the owners father was selling the car because Son passed on. He knew he had me by the twinkle in my eye that I gave the car during our conversation. After haggling on the price, This blue beauty was mine at the cost of $1500.
Connie was a 1979 Lincoln Collectors Series. Midnight Blue metallic, gold accents in the Turbine wheels, and grille. Power Moon-roof, Working QUADRASONIC 8-track radio, and 85,000 on the 400c.i.d 2-barrel carb.
I took Connie home and gave a THOROUGH 3 hour wash. Armour All the Dash, doors, Windex'd the inside and outside of the windows, I did the wires, the grille, even climb on top to clean the rails of the power sunroof.
My car debuted as the biggest car in the student lot at my high school. Where it came Infamously known as "Connie the continental". Working maybe 10 hours a week, Connie's needs began to be far more then I could afford only being a Junior in high school. Just before my Senior year, I had to give up Connie..a dropped Transmission was the last nail in the coffin.
