Educational Toys:
|
There
have always been toys that were more clearly
intended to have an "instructive"
purpose. Educational toys oriented toward
young children taught concepts like learning
letters and numbers as well as telling time.
Those geared toward older children taught
more sophisticated scientific concepts and
practical real-life skills. Early learning
through play became a formalized concept in
the 1900s, as educators and psychologists
came to better understand children's developmental
stages. Toy companies responded by designing
educational toys geared toward specific age
groups of children. |
