Wide-ranging
in format as well as years, the collection of travel literature
covers the time period of 1815 to the present day. Brochures
advertising an attraction or destination, maps, and souvenir
books to commemorate a visit to a special destination,
are included in this collection. Diaries written
to record memories of a trip, guides providing information
for touring a destination, and timetables listing departing
and arrival time for ship, railroad, coach, and air travel
are also part of this collection. One of the major
components of the travel literature collection is material
received from the American Automobile Association (AAA)
of Michigan. |
