Du Pont Company (1887-1950):
|
The
records from the DuPont Company show that
the company was intended to be a class act
from the beginning. Their premier in 1919
was not at a standard auto show, but at the
1919 International Automobile Salon in the
Commodore Hotel in New York City. The company
was organized by E. Paul DuPont in 1919, went
bankrupt in 1932 and was merged with the Indian
Motorcycle Company which survived until 1953.
The collection contains records from
both companies, personal correspondence with
members of the DuPont family and automobile
pioneer Charles Duryea and a children's story
written by E. Paul DuPont.
