Dear Friend, With a few simple clicks of the mouse, you can join citizens throughout the country in celebrating a transformative innovation from America's history, while helping The Henry Ford sustain and enhance one of its signature visitor experiences. The United States Congress is considering legislation that directs the Secretary of the Treasury to mint coins commemorating the Model T Ford and the 100th anniversary of the Highland Park Plant, the first site to use the moving assembly line for automotive manufacture. The Model T democratized land transportation and helped create America's great middle class. Its mass production, affordability and vast distribution, made possible by the moving assembly line, transformed America's landscape, economy and way of life. This is a uniquely American story, one well worth recognizing, honoring and preserving as a point of inspiration for America's next generation of innovators. All of that can be achieved by the minting of the Model T commemorative coins through legislation you can help advance. A portion of the sales of the commemorative coins would go to an endowment at The Henry Ford, the interest from which would be used to support the Model T programs offered in Henry Ford Museum® and Greenfield Village®. A number of U.S. senators and representatives are co-sponsoring this legislation. But more support is needed! You can help by emailing your own U.S. senator and U.S. representative right now and asking them to add their names as co-sponsors to support passage of the bills in their respective chambers. Importantly, this initiative, if successful, will not cost the government or the American taxpayer a single penny! To participate in this national grassroots effort, please click on the image of the coin above or go to www.modeltcoin.org. There you will find further details about the initiative and an email you can quickly and easily send directly to your U.S. senator and representative. Thank you in advance for participating in this worthy cause and for keeping the history and spirit of ingenuity alive and well in America. Sincerely, |
