The Benson Ford Research Center Reading Room is open to the general public free of charge. We welcome you to come and personally access our archives, records and other collections. Collections available for research include books, archival material, photographs, film and
video, journals and magazines, and other materials. You can also search our online library catalog, and we offer remote research options if you are unable to visit.
The Reading Room is open from 9:30am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Friday, and our reference staff is available to assist you in identifying resources relevant to your topic of interest. Researchers should note that we are unable to retrieve
material from storage between 12:00 and 1:00. You are welcome to drop in at any time, but we encourage you to make an appointment if you know when you will be coming.
Making an Appointment
We encourage, but do not require, that you make an appointment in advance by phone, (313) 982-6020 or by using our email form. Appointments allow us to check collections in advance of your visit to be sure we have material appropriate to your request. It also allows us to have some material ready for you to look at when you arrive.
For directions, see our campus map.
