It was 1990. My dad asked what car I wanted and told me they were only ever getting me 1. As a young man with big dreams and small clues about anything, I chose a 1953 F100 about a month later my dad brought home a Ford step-side truck on a trailer. However it was not a '53 with a v8 and 5spd as I had hoped and dreamed but a 1980 that had never been cared for. As bad as it sounds I was 15 and had wheels! I wanted to start it and drive around the yard but dad said no we pushed it off the trailer and found no brakes. As the months flew by, me and dad rebuilt or replaced most pieces of the truck then the 6cyl finally let go. We rebuilt that too. Finally nothing else could go wrong. Time to start on the body. About that time, I was in a wreck toataling the truck. It may be gone but the memories will always remain.
