Storytelling, live entertainment and dozens of hands-on activities related to some of our most memorable artifacts — trains, dollhouses, historic games, even a ride on our amazing Herschell-Spillman carousel. Day Out With Thomas™ April 25-26 and May 2-3 and 9-10, 2015 Thomas the Tank Engine™ is the pride of Sir Topham Hatt’s fleet of really useful engines. During Thomas’ annual visit to Greenfield Village, he is the centerpiece of six days of family fun and entertainment. You can ride Thomas around the village, of course, and meet Sir Topham Hatt™ face-to-face. Advance tickets are strongly recommended. Be aware that some time slots sell out very quickly. Members of The Henry Ford receive free Greenfield Village admission and an exclusive opportunity to purchase Thomas ride tickets in advance. Greenfield Village admission is required for nonmembers to ride Thomas.

Civil War Remembrance May 23-25, 2015 (Open Saturday 'til 9pm) Feel the Civil War come alive all around you as bustling camps, cavalry and period music enliven an entire weekend filled with reenacted events.
Before we immerse ourselves in summer pleasures, we stop to recall the 3 million people who fought in America’s Civil War and the estimated 750,000 people who died — the equivalent of 7.5 million dead today.
This year marks the sesquicentennial, the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, both in April 1865. The joy of the end of the war and the ensuing peace were quickly dampened by an assassin’s bullet at
Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., causing the nation to mourn.
This weekend in Greenfield Village, hundreds of Union and Confederate reenactors, civilians, musicians and historic presenters — all in period clothing — converge, eager to share their knowledge with you. There are dozens of opportunities to learn more about this pivotal time in American history: exhibits, presentations, battle tactics demonstration, hands-on activities and insights from historians.
Please join us in honoring the sacrifices and achievements of all those who bravely fought and continue to fight in defense of our great nation. The Henry Ford will participate in a national moment of silence at 3 pm Monday as signaled by the Armington & Sims shop whistle.
Historic Base Ball Games Every Saturday & Sunday June 13 - August 23, 2015 (First pitch 1:30pm) We think our games are as good as America’s pastime gets. We play by the rules of 1867. Gloves optional, but certainly not preferred. No designated hitters, either, or domed stadiums. We still have pitchers and batters and home runs. But this is thrill-a-minute base ball in the glorious outdoors. Our grandstand is a grassy hillside shaded by dozens of massive walnut trees. We have live, 19th-century music by the Dodworth Saxhorn Band. And every so often, a Greenfield Village passenger train pulled by a 19th-century steam locomotive chugs along the perimeter of the outfield. It’s classic. This is the way we like it. National Get Outdoors Day in Greenfield Village June 13, 2015 (10am – 4pm) Join our historic forest ranger for a day of one-of-a-kind outdoor activities. Hikes. Barn tours. And a hands-on exploration of our environment. For all ages.
It’s summer — time to get out of the house! Come to Greenfield Village for National Get Outdoors Day. With the help of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Forest Service, this annual event encourages healthy, active outdoor fun. We have a full schedule of activities planned: an environmental program in the Village Pavilion, an afternoon nature hike, presentations by our historic forest ranger on horseback. We also open up the usually closed William Ford Horse Barn for tours, as well as offer a wide range of hands-on activities. So come to Greenfield Village and enjoy the out-of-doors.
Motor Muster June 20-21, 2015 (Open Saturday 'til 9pm) Make your way to a vintage auto enthusiast’s dream destination: From glamorous classics of the 1930s to brawny muscle cars of the 1970s, Greenfield Village hosts more than 500 gleaming examples.
Motor Muster celebrates one of the grandest and most innovative eras of American automotive history — 1933-1976. For the entire weekend, the streets and lawns of Greenfield Village will be filled with hundreds of classic cars, vintage trucks, motorcycles, military vehicles, bicycles — even a fire engine or two. They’ll all be here, from brawny muscle cars to the straight-out-of-the-showroom cars you and your parents grew up with. Stroll the grounds and meet the owners who lavish attention on these wonders of rolling history. There’s the Saturday night cruise, too, and a live early 1960s dance show with dancing in the streets ’til 9pm. A one-of-a-kind event for cars and the people who love them.

Salute to America July 1-4, 2015 (6-10pm) A classic Independence Day celebration with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra that’s as full of freedom-loving fanfare as they come.
July Fourth is the quintessential American holiday. What better occasion for a four-day party? Picnics, games and festive holiday food from our award-winning culinary staff. Plenty of activities for kids, too. But the centerpiece of each evening is a joint concert by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the United States Army Field Band, Concert Band and Soldiers’ Chorus, the premier touring musical representatives of the United States Army. Stick around for the grand finale, the DSO playing Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, featuring authentic cannon fire and a spectacular fireworks display accompanied by live patriotic music.

For one whirlwind of a weekend, we revel in that seductively syncopated music that we know as ragtime! There’s music everywhere you turn. You can learn to dance the one-step or listen to pianos cranking out the hits of the era. Better yet, you can find a comfy seat and listen to live performances by some of the modern-day stars of ragtime, including Taslimah Bey, "Perfessor" Bill Edwards, John Remmers, River Raisin Ragtime Revue and Jerry Perrine. It’s sassy, jazzy, hot and live. Old Car Festival September 12-13, 2015 (Open Saturday 'til 9pm) Rev it up with hundreds of authentic vehicles from the 1890s through 1932 at America’s longest-running antique car show. Open ’til 9pm on Saturday night!
For one weekend a year, we celebrate the triumphs of the earliest years of the automotive industry. It is a glorious spectacle, as the streets and grounds of Greenfield Village fill with the sights, sounds and smells of hundreds of authentic vehicles made from the 1890s through 1932. Wander through the village and talk to owners about their treasured vehicles. Watch drivers engage in games of skill, see a Model T assembled in just minutes, or just sit back and enjoy our experts sharing "car talks" while historic vehicles parade past. There’s the Saturday Gaslight Tour, too, and a live orchestra performing favorite dance tunes of the 1920s ’til 9pm. A one-of-a-kind event for cars and the people who love them.
Fall Flavor Weekends September 26-27 & October 3-4, 2015 If you love to eat, you’ll love Greenfield Village’s Fall Flavor Weekends. Come celebrate the glories of traditional American food from farm to table, share in cooking demonstrations and browse the delights at our Saturday Local Roots Farmers Market.
You don’t have to be a foodie to enjoy Greenfield Village’s Fall Flavor Weekends. You just have to love to eat. Each weekend, several of our historic homes will host cooking demonstrations. At Firestone Farm, for instance, you’ll learn the secrets of a 19th-century meal of ham noodles, apples and onions with southern cabbage and Irish potatoes. Over at the Susquehanna Plantation, they’ll prepare a crab gumbo, along with sauerkraut baked with apples, ginger biscuits and cherry pudding. If all that food talk gets you hungry, then stop at the Village Store where they’ll be offering free tastings of our Greenfield Village specialty foods. When you’re ready for a break from all that food, wander outside and wonder at the demonstrations of century-old threshing techniques and plowing with steam and horses.
Saturday, October 4th, is Gleaner Day at The Henry Ford. Gleaner Life Insurance Society will be onsite hosting a food drive to benefit Gleaner Community Food Bank. Donate five nonperishable items and receive a coupon for one free admission to Greenfield Village with the purchase of one admission (offer valid Saturday, October 4th only).

Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village October 9-11, 15-18 and 22-25, 2015 Stroll down streets and alleys haunted by over 1,000 carved jack-o’-lanterns and lavishly costumed characters during America’s most spooktacular Halloween event.
Enjoy our historically themed Hallowe’en event. Follow a mile-long, curving path illuminated by the flickering light of hand-carved jack-o'-lanterns and meet classic costumed characters along the way. Feel the chilly whoosh of air as the Headless Horseman rides out of the shadows of Firestone Farm’s fields, and banter with witches, wizards and dancing skeletons. They’re everywhere along Jack-o’-Lantern Boulevard. The good news is that you can bring the entire family. This is a kid-friendly, nightmare-free Halloween gathering.
