How Your Event Helps Sustain and Energize a Cultural Jewel The Henry Ford is a registered 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization. Each revenue dollar from a special event is used to continue the work of The Henry Ford including research, education and exhibition development. The buildings, artifacts and documents that Henry Ford collected serve as the bedrock of the institution’s vast, growing and continually evolving collections to this day. Your contributions help preserve and activate over 26 million objects and documents all helping to inspire others to learn from the past to help make a better future. In addition to our preservation efforts we are collaborating internally and externally to bring new stories and new facets of our shared American experience to light to growing audiences of designers and researchers as well as the general public through our ongoing digitization effort. Through your help we are making our artifacts and content from the Archive of American Innovation more accessible to more people in more ways than ever. Accessibility, after all, isn’t only a matter of showing the objects themselves but also a matter of the language and concepts used to introduce and explain them—the jumping off points for telling stories, engaging people, helping them to make personal connections, and then taking them on a journey to somewhere new. Thank you for not just having an event – but making history. About The Henry Ford At The Henry Ford, stories and artifacts from 300 years of America’s history bring to life the accomplishments of ordinary and extraordinary individuals alike. Nearly two million visitors annually experience Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, The Ford Rouge Factory Tour, The Benson Ford Research Center and The Henry Ford IMAX Theatre. A continually expanding array of content available online provides anytime, anywhere access to countless other individuals worldwide. The Henry Ford is also home to Henry Ford Academy, a public charter high school which educates 485 students a year on the institution’s campus and was founded in partnership with The Henry Ford, Ford Motor Company and Wayne County Public Schools. About our Local Roots Initiative The Henry Ford’s vast collections do more than set the stage for stories of how we have cultivated the land and brought food to table: They give us the perspective and passion to carry those stories forward. Bringing the best of yesterday to today, we are seeking out and nurturing new sources for the foods and ingredients we offer, including local and sustainable sources wherever possible. In doing so, we’re at the forefront among institutions of our kind. As part of our high-profile Local Roots initiative, we are rapidly closing on our goal of using 80 percent locally sourced products in the food we prepare. This offering includes fresh herbs we grow within the grounds of The Henry Ford. Local Roots is about good public policy as well as good food: It represents our commitment to local farmers, food producers and distributors—and our recognition that well all have a role to play together in creating a healthy, sustainable local economy. At a time when America is looking for new answers to growing food challenges, we’re more than showcasing “past forward” solutions that offer new promise. We’re serving them up. |
