1959 Chevrolet Bel Air (video)
by:
Howard

This is my first car, a 1959 Chevrolet, Bel Air, 4 door sedan. I paid $75 for it on March 12, 1978 when I was 17 years old. I still have the bill of sale with the price and date, from the person I bought it from. I drove it threw high school (Romeo High) and trade school (Motech). I still have the car, and drive it regularly.

The car was all original, including the paint, until I repainted it in 1984. The dash still has the factory paint today, and still looks like new. Other than the paint, it is still mostly original. It had 58,000 miles when I bought it, from the original owner, it now has 186,000.

It is powered with a 348 cid, 250 hp V-8, with a three on the tree, and has a 3.36 to 1 axle ratio. Some of the options include, EZI glass, two tone paint, power steering and power brakes. The old Delco Remy generator is still there, as the power steering pump is driven off the back side. I get around 19 mpg with it, and the 348 uses NO oil. Check out my YouTube video of the car out on the road.
