I Grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan, just outside Flint, Michigan, an Auto Town. Our Cars Were a Big deal.
My 1955 Ford was my First car. I bought it from a Used Car Dealer in Flint when I was 15 so I could work on it until I turned 16 and got my license in 1962. I "leaded in" the Hood and trunk ornament. I put on Straight Pipe exhaust and some Chrome thing in engine compartment. I repainted the car Baby Blue.
I Thought it Looked pretty Cool.
My First night on the Road, I Raced a guy from a traffic light on Dort Hwy (near the Royal-in) a teenagers hang-out in the 1960's. I got stopped by the police in the Yankee Store Parking lot, for Drag Racing. I guess I did a good job of talking to the policeman, telling him about all the Work I'd done to the Car. He looked over the Car and said I'd Done a good Job. He gave me a talking to about Street Racing, But did not give me a Ticket for Drag Racing. He did give a Ticket for Excessive Noise, because of the Straight Pipe Exhaust. I was very Lucky.
I enjoyed the Car and had lots of Fun with it.
