A Tale of Two First Cars
by:

My wife, Mindy, and I come from very different backgrounds. I am one of twelve children; Mindy is one of two children. My parents were not financially able to buy a car for me so I bought my own. It was a 1963 Chevy Impala with a 283 V8 motor. I rebuilt the motor and transmission, and generally restored the car to driving condition. It wasn't pretty but it ran well and that is all I cared about.

Mindy's father took her car shopping about six months before her 16th birthday. Mindy selected a brand new 1968 Chevy Camaro. It was burgundy with white stripes.. It had a 327 V8 motor and black bucket seats. We had a good laugh when we shared our first car srories with each other...
