The
Detroit Publishing Company’s business relied on
the creative use and re-use of images and finding new
markets for them. The same image might appear in
a souvenir view book, in promotional literature, as a
postcard or lantern slide or as a print “suitable
for framing.” These products were then promoted
to the travel industry, educators, librarians, and the
armchair traveler.
