165 years of firefighting history is represented
by The Henry Ford's
collection of firefighting vehicles. The strength
of the collection is in the 19th century,
when steam power replaced human muscle power
for pumping water. This equipment is both
technically interesting and visually striking.
The warriors in the battle against fire went
into action with machines that were highly
styled and decorated, and were lovingly cared
