Henry
Ford's manufacturing goal was to control every part of
the production and distribution aspects of his company.
This group of records relates to those companies established
by Ford to facilitate those functions. They deal
with a variety of subjects including the acquisition of
raw materials such as coal, lumber and cotton as well
as real estate, publishing, construction, education and
training, aircraft, railroads, dealerships, and farms.
They contain correspondence, financial reports, summary
reports, proceedings, meeting minutes, and tax records.
Of particular interest are the records of the Detroit,
Toledo and Ironton Railroad, Dearborn Reality and Construction
Company, The Dearborn Publishing Company, C.E. Johnansson
Inc., and the Allegheny Plate Glass Co. |
