This 1950 reprint of an owner's manual gives detailed operating instructions. The example here describes the electric gasoline gauge in the model 810 and 812 Cords. Excerpt: The gas gauge in instrument panel and the tank unit in gasoline tank are connected by a wire running along the car frame. Both units must be properly grounded to insure operation. The tank unit is grounded by screws which hold it to the tank, and the dash gauge by the screws holding it to the instrument panel. ... The factory will be glad to receive back at any time electrical or mechanical units for repairs. We have set up some very attractive prices on exchange units and it is not necessary for you to tie up your car until you receive the parts-all you have to do is order new exchange units and when they arrive and are installed return the used units for credit.
