A classic Independence Day celebration with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
The party offers music Americana, 19th-century lawn games, picnics and favorite eats from The Henry Ford’s award-winning chefs. Concert concludes with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture featuring the historic cannon of Loomis Battery. Amazing fireworks display accompanied by live patriotic music to immediately follow.
July 4th is the quintessential
American holiday. No single event defines us quite
like that day in 1776 when we declared our independence from the
tyranny of British rule. Small wonder that July 4th remains our most
festive public holiday: parades, concerts, fireworks, ceremonial readings
of the Declaration of Independence — they have been mainstays of this
most American celebration for 236 years. Join us as Greenfield Village
and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra continue this tradition by proudly
presenting the 21st annual Salute to America concerts.
Pre-concert musical entertainment featuring the First Michigan Colonial Fife and Drum Corps led by Mark Logsdon
Kids activities including 19th-century lawn games and a special visit from members of Greenfield Village’s historic baseball teams!
Prelude Concert featuring the River Raisin Ragtime Revue with musical direction by William Pemberton
Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert. Leonard Slatkin, Conductor
