Car sales up 8%, Oakville-built vehicles up 25% and Lincoln sales jump 50%
November Highlights:
- Overall car sales were up 8%
- Ford Fusion sales rose 62%
- Ford Taurus sales increased 134%
- Ford Edge sales jump 25 %
- Ford F-Series sales rose 30%
- Ford Flex sales increased 5%
- Lincoln MKZ sales were up 79%
- Lincoln MKX sales increased 27 %
- Overall Lincoln sales jump 50%
OAKVILLE, Ontario, December 1, 2009 – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited saw retail sales climb 7.5 per cent marking the company's sixth consecutive month of retail sales gain. Market share also increased for the thirteenth consecutive month at Ford of Canada despite a down industry. Ford car sales were up 8 per cent with positive results driven by the award-winning Fusion, which won Motor Trend magazine's Car of the Year and Taurus which was recently named "Best New Family Car" in the over $30,000 category by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
Strong performance across the Lincoln lineup resulted in sales increases of 49.8 per cent with MKZ leading the pack. The Oakville-built Lincoln MKX, Ford Edge and Ford Flex also helped to produce strong sales results for Ford in Canada.
"Ford of Canada retail sales are up nearly 13,500 units year-to-date, that's a nine per cent increase and total sales are up five per cent year-to-date, thanks to consumer demand for our award-winning products," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada.
Total market share in November for Ford of Canada is 15.4 per cent, which is up 0.4 per cent compared to last November, led by hot products like Taurus, Flex and F-150, winning Full-size Car of the Year, Full-size Utility of the Year and Pickup of the Year respectfully at the inaugural Auto123.com awards.
"We continue to gain market share despite industry sales being down about four per cent," said Mondragon. "Customers are noticing and choosing our great new products with innovative technologies such as SYNC, MyKey and Active Park Assist."
