New Ford Fiesta Sales Soar Nearly 50% Year-over-Year
CHONGQING, June 1, 2010 - Changan Ford Sales Company today reported an all-time May sales record of 23,742 vehicles, an increase of 17.8 percent year-on-year, marking the 16th consecutive month of growth in China sales.
Backed by Ford's newly-launched 'Feel the difference' brand campaign, the Ford Fiesta was the star performer of another strong month across Ford's product lineup, with May sales that increased nearly 50 percent from a year ago to 6,547 units. This reflects the Fiesta's popularity among China's young and trendy generation.
Ford Focus delivered another solid month of year-on-year growth, with sales rising 11.7 percent in May to 12,631 units. The Focus Racing Team, symbolizing China's passionate sporty spirit, continued with its success in the second round of the China Touring Car Championship with a dynamic new look and new brand theme on display.
Ford Mondeo and Ford S-MAX both achieved record monthly sales in May, increasing respectively to 4,113 units and 451 units, and continuing a steady rise in sales for both nameplates.
"Our strong sales in May helped reaffirm our expectation for solid full-year growth in 2010," said Nigel Harris, general manager of Changan Ford. "We are inviting Chinese consumers to 'Feel the difference' of our world-class Ford vehicles and services, and they continue to respond with strong demand and a desire for our best-in-class customer service experience."
