Save the Mustangs

To build public awareness for the plight of America's wild horses and help fund their adoption by non-profit sanctuaries, we established the "Save the Mustangs" program in collaboration with the U.S. Interior Department's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Take Pride in America.

Finding Good Homes for Mustangs

Since inception in May 2005, the Save the Mustangs program has raised over $215,000 in donations, using the funds to find good homes for hundreds of sale-eligible animals. The program has also educated more than 1 million visitors through an informational website.

In addition to finding good homes for the older horses, we've expanded Save the Mustangs to help and promote mustangs currently not in the adoption pipeline.

Program Activities

Some of the activities that have benefited from the "Save the Mustangs" Fund in 2007 include the following:

  • Providing monetary incentives to 501(c)3 organizations that are able to provide homes for the older mustangs and burros,
  • Building a relationship with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College to gentle wild horses as part of their equine studies curriculum,
  • Sponsoring several mini-clinics put on by equine groups to educate local communities about the needs and caring for mustangs, and
  • Becoming involved with the "Extreme Mustang Makeover" event, which highlights the recognized value of mustangs through a national training competition.

The Save the Mustangs Program is designed to allow all horse lovers, young and old, to be involved with these living legends - America's Mustangs. We are proud to continue helping save these Living Legends and hope you will continue to support this worthwhile cause.
