McMurray Posts Sixth-Place Finish at Martinsville Speedway To Lead Ford Drivers

BOBBY LABONTE – No. 96 Ask.com Ford Fusion (Finished 13th) – “It was all right. We just started off so loose there without getting anymore practice.  From our notes last time we were really tight and we freed it up. I think the track was a little bit freer this race than it was the first time we were here, so it was a little bit different. But the guys did a good job. We probably should have pitted one time when we didn’t, but, obviously, we ran a lot better sometimes because we stayed out, too. Right there at the end we probably could have had our tires on a little bit better. We got beat up a little bit on the starts, but was better on the long runs.” YOU WERE ABLE TO KEEP TRACK POSITION MOST OF THE DAY AFTER STARTING EIGHTH. “Yeah, we were able to do that all day and, overall, I was pleased with the way the day went. We came home 13th. I lost a spot there at the end, but we gained one when somebody hit the 99.”

MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Finished 14th) – “I’m happy with the final result. For us, that’s pretty good here. We didn’t run particularly well and I wasn’t at my best today. I thought I did a bad job and thought I ran into about everything. I had some issues on a couple of restarts and we struggled on our last pit stop, so all of those things considered, to finish 14th is really good.” ERIK WAS STANDING BY. WERE YOU EVER CLOSE TO GETTING OUT OF THE CAR? “No, not really. I’d say at 9 o’clock this morning, if I would have felt like that when the race started I wouldn’t have made it, but I got feeling quite a bit better and felt pretty good in the car the whole time.”

JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Finished 6th) – “It was a really good day. We made really good pit calls and had good pit strategy. Our car was better than average, so we just had a solid day.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Finished 22nd) – “It felt like at the beginning we had a top 10 to 15 car if we could have made the right adjustments, and after that penalty we got in the back and with the double-file restarts we just didn’t have any track position that we could really get going. It was unfortunate to lose all of our track position, but I felt like our UPS Ford was pretty good, but halfway through the race when you’re back there in thirtysomething, it’s just tough to overcome it.”

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 25th) – “We couldn’t really do anything with our car. With practice getting rained out yesterday it really hurt us. That happened in the spring, so that makes it tough. Someday when we get to test or practice here we’ll be all right.”
