Title: Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific and Africa
John G. Parker is executive vice president, Asia Pacific and Africa, effective September 2007. He reports to Alan Mulally, president and chief executive officer of Ford Motor Company. Prior to this position, he was group vice president, Asia Pacific and Africa.
In this position, Parker has responsibility for all of Ford’s operations and partnerships within the Asia Pacific & Africa region, including Mazda. He is based out of Bangkok, Thailand.
Parker has held numerous international positions in Product Development and Manufacturing, including assignments with Ford's Asia Pacific and Africa operations in South Africa, Taiwan, Australia and India, as well as serving as senior executive vice president, Mazda Motor Corporation.
Parker, a United Kingdom native, joined Ford South Africa in 1965 and held a number of positions before his initial assignment in Taiwan in 1979, where he ultimately became director, Technical Operations. He was then assigned to Ford Australia in 1986 and advanced to vice president, Product development. He also served as president of Ford India from 1994 – 1998.
In 1999, Parker returned to Taiwan as president. In 2002, he served as president of Ford's ASEAN Operations where he was responsible for all aspects of Ford's operations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines. He also served on the Board of Directors of AutoAlliance (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the Mazda and Ford joint venture assembly plant in Thailand. In 2003, Parker became senior executive vice president, Mazda Motor Corporation.
Parker holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance Management from the University of South Africa and a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the College of Technology in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
