Job Description
Ford Motor Company's Global Data Insight and Analytics (GDI&A) organization is looking for a motivated and talented individual with a background in Optimization and Statistical Modeling. This is an opportunity to apply the latest tools and methods in Big Data and Data Science to a variety of manufacturing problems at Ford.

The successful candidate will perform data management and analytics tasks as a member of the Manufacturing Analytics team in GDI&A and support development of mathematical models to improve efficiency and reduce cost of Ford Manufacturing and Order Fulfillment activities such as production scheduling/sequencing and product complexity management.


Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with business partners to understand the problems and translate high-level ideas into well-defined mathematical formulations
  • Collect, validate, cleanse, and design data structure for analytics consumption
  • Develop and implement mathematical formulations and computationally efficient methods for obtaining optimal or near-optimal solutions
  • Develop algorithms and build mathematical models using programming languages such as Python, C++ and Java, design user-friendly interfaces, and continuously improve model performance to satisfy business needs
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with business customers. Ability to explain highly technical contents with non-technical people is a must

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related areas
  • 1+ years of experience in applications of operations research, mathematics, and/or statistics to production scheduling/sequencing problems and product complexity management
  • 1+ years of experience in Data Mining and Analytics, Modeling, business intelligence, and statistical analysis
  • 1+ years of experience in Alteryx, Tableau, and QlikView, as well as Java, Python, or C++
  • 1+ years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience of Ford's manufacturing processes and databases
  • Understand the implication of product complexity on manufacturing efficiency and scheduling/sequencing
  • Aware of current trend of manufacturing analytics leveraging data science such as Industry 4.0 and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
  • Comfortable working in an environment where problems are not always well-defined
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Well-organized, independent and ready to work with minimal supervision
  • Familiar with Hadoop and SQL database management systems
  • Inquisitive, proactive, and interested in learning new tools and techniques
