Currently, we are seeking a Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer in our Dearborn, Michigan location.
Responsibilities:
Diesel Powertrain Calibration for Emissions, Fuel Economy, Drivability
Optimize the engine set-point calibration for key vehicle and program attributes (performance, fuel economy, emissions, NVH) in engine dynamometer test cells
Assess both dynamometer and vehicle data to produce optimal calibration. Develop and execute design of experiment based methods to create, progress, and mature the engine set-point calibration
Lead work to mature current optimization processes/tools for increased accuracy, reduced time to develop set-point calibrations
Design and conduct tests to support engine hardware and engine calibration characterization, validation
Assist the diagnosis of engine hardware and calibration related concerns that arise during the development process
Minimal travel required (< 5% of the engineer’s schedule)
Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on diesel engine combustion
3 + years of experience working with internal combustion engines and combustion processes (especially diesels) and effective engine test methods
3+ years of experience in diesel engine calibration including the following aspects:
Development and optimization of engine fuel/air setpoints targeted for engine programs with current/future U.S. emissions requirements
Engine-out and tail pipe emissions development, including current diesel after treatment technologies
Active use of diesel engine control systems (PCM, sensors, actuators) to deliver the fuel/air setpoints, engine-out and tailpipe emissions
3 + years of experience with ETAS/INCA and ASCMO or similar testing and data acquisition software/tools
1+ years of experience with CAE modeling of internal combustion engines
Preferred Qualifications:
High proficiency in calibration optimization processes
CAE experience with use of offline modeling/simulation to calibrate / optimize engine control features
Well-developed organizational and administrative skills
Keen data processing, data management, and presentation skills
Ability to multi-task
Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
