The Flat Rock Assembly Plant has an opening for an Engineering Specialist - Controls. This position will have the responsibilities for the following:

  • Use Vis Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow up automation project's and installations

  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems

  • Update program backups for automation

  • Program new installations of Body tooling and conveyor systems

  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements

  • Coordinate automation campaigns

  • Lead skilled trades and maintenance supervisors during equipment breakdowns and repair

  • Investigate the root cause & develop countermeasures for chronic issues affecting Production.

  • Analyze production and machine monitoring data to determine bottlenecks & constraints


Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ year Electrical Background

  • 2+ years of Manufacturing experience

  • High School Diploma or GED


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Fanuc robot experience

  • 3+ years minimum experience with Body Assembly weld equipment, robotics and tooling

  • Ability to read prints, AutoCAD, interpret and modify electrical schematics

  • Strong understanding of conveyors system programming and body tooling techniques, in addition to networking understanding, DH+, Ethernet, remote IO

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot all body equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery

  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience

  • 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills

  • DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology experience

  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience

  • Allen Bradley GuardLogix 1765 Platforms, PowerFlex70/755 VFD’s experience

  • Experience with SEW EuroDrive MoviMot/MoviFit Drives

  • Fanuc Robotics – SpotTool, Sealer Dispense Applications experience

  • Nordson Sealer Dispense Systems, Cognex vision systems experience

  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
