Job Description
Global Customs Compliance Directors role is to develop and implement Customs Tools and Processes that meet all Legal requirements and pay the required Customs duties with efficiency.

The following are key objectives:

  • Leading Global Customs and Trade Strategy development and Implementation.
  • Implementing common standards, best practices & operational metrics across all regions.
  • Aligning with Corporate Global Tax office on Government Strategy and policy matters as they relate to the import and export of product and materials.
  • Develop and implement globally aligned IT infrastructure and data flow across regions that migrate to a solution that uses export data for importation – common end to end Customs Solution that all regions can use.
  • Ensure all applicable duty schemes (i.e. Free Trade Agreements, Duty suspension/drawback) are administered effectively.
  • Actively support Custom Clearance certification such as AEO, FAST, CTPAT
  • Ensure new regulations are understood and implemented on effective dates
  • Strive for hands free or direct broker filings to ensure consistency in data supporting compliance requirements.

This position will be responsible for the delivery of these projects and will be measured on seamless alignment, delivery timing of solutions within the budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and strategically implement common end to end Customs solution across various Custom activities.
  • Develop an aligned IT Infrastructure strategy with consistent data flows and tools across the Globe.
  • Leverage in-house and supplier services to meet Budget and support Business Plan objectives
  • Standardize Global Processes across CBG’s to take advantage of duty schemes.
  • Support all Government Related Audits and inquiries on time
  • Ensure processes are in place to confirm all Finance Manual requirements (MCRP)
  • Lead Phytosanitary and Anti Bribery Programs for all regions.
  • Take advantage of all new Free Trade Agreements and implement on effective date
  • Ensure alignment with the Office of the General Counsel


Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years’ experience in the Management of Customs
  • 1+ years’ experience in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of various Customs activities – Free Trade Agreements implementation, Duty Schemes, Compliance, Broker processes, Classification, Reconciliation.
  • Experience in an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier or Customs Service Provider
  • Government Policy and Operations Customs Experience
  • Excellent In depth Global Customs knowledge with extensive management experience. Project Management skill, good at MS office, good communication skills both written & oral, be able to lead in meetings; Will be the lead Ford representative to Government Agencies.
  • Presentation Skills, Team spirit, High integrity with good attitude and interpersonal skills, needs to be able to communicate at all levels, will be responsible to present to senior management and be viewed as the expert In the field of Customs.
  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership in One FORD (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
