Position Overview/Description:

The Manufacturing Analytics team within Ford’s Global Data, Insight and Analytics (GDI&A) organization collaborates with business partners in Ford Manufacturing to identify opportunities, define problems, determine data source, establish descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics models, and deliver optimal solutions. We are looking for a highly skilled data scientist with experience in defining, developing, and delivering data analytics projects in Manufacturing.


Responsibilities:

  • Leverage experience and domain knowledge in manufacturing processes and databases to help data scientists identify and define manufacturing analytics opportunities
  • Develop and manage Manufacturing related analytics projects; plan resources, ensure on-time delivery, and quantify project benefits
  • Collaborate with Data Operations and Manufacturing IT to identify and acquire access to necessary data
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and business partners in Manufacturing Engineering, and VO/PTO/Stamping Plants
  • Communicate analytics results with GDIA and Manufacturing management

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or other related technical or business fields
  • 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: 1) machine / deep learning, 2) advanced econometrics / statistics, 3) optimization / mathematical programming
  • 2+ years of experience in any of the following languages: R, Python, MATLAB, Java, Scala, Julia, C/C++/C#

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or other related technical and business fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or Analytics. Familiar with manufacturing processes and operations. Experience in automotive or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred
  • Capable of translating real-world manufacturing engineering problems into analytics formulations and interpreting analytics results with non-analytics business partners
  • Demonstrated track record in project development, management, and implementation
  • Strong collaboration and communications skills, ability to engage with both upper management and peers
  • Experience and interest in recent development in Data Analytics and Big Data applications in Manufacturing such as Industry 4.0 or Industry Internet of Things (IIoT) is highly desired
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Map/Reduce, Hive, etc.
