Position Overview/Description:

The Electrified Powertrain Engineering Team is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated engineer to join the Ford Team in the position of HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) HIL (Hardware in the Loop) Development Engineer. This position will be responsible for the development of HIL-based Electrified Powertrain Development Tools and the methods to apply those tools to the design and verification process. Position candidates should have a keen interest in analytical engineering work, but will also have the opportunity to interface with vehicle test activities.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced novel hybrid powertrain CAE tools to support development and validation in a HIL environment of next generation hybrid system controls and calibrations that deliver On Board Diagnostic requirements and balance performance and fuel economy attributes
  • Develop techniques to optimize vehicle-level control system operation for attribute delivery
  • Develop and document HIL calibration optimization and validation processes
  • Identify and develop plant model capability and control system integration for future design technologies and processes, and implementation/planning to deliver those models
  • Develop processes to improve the analysis of prototype test vehicle data through model and hardware correlation
  • Perform HIL calibration development and validation procedures


Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with Powertrain Model Development and Analysis Delivery
  • 2+ years hands developing powertrain models and performing power, efficiency, and thermal analysis using model simulation packages such as; Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Dymola, Mode Frontier, Modelica


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years experience with Powertrain Model Development on Hybrid applications
  • Strong statistical application knowledge
  • Familiarity with On Board Diagnostics, Fuel Economy, Electric Vehicle Range, and Emission Regulatory Requirements Worldwide
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Self- motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
