Job Description
Position Title: Engineering Specialist-Manufacturing

Overview:
  • Supervise Heat/Chem Treat laboratory in an industrial setting, including managing unionized technicians, assigned to three shift operation (24/7)

Responsibilities:
  • Lead Chemical analysis of materials to ensure proper heat treat settings are ensured and that the process is capable
  • Analyze key process parameters to ensure product meets specification
  • Lead problem solving process of suspected material issues with the heat & Chem treat process
  • Direct suppliers, internal and external to meet quality expectations for materials
  • Manage product information in material database
  • Track performance history of parts versus process characteristics over time
  • Interface with internal customers to ensure alignment with the needs of stakeholders
  • Document findings via oral presentations and written reports
  • Able to work rotating shifts, weekends and overtime as needed

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience with laboratory testing equipment including, uniaxial tensile test machines, specimen milling machine, profilometer, and lubricant measurement equipment
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, documentation and statistical methods
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience managing UAW employees
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis packages
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in 6-Sigma problem solving technology
  • Passion for quality and attention to detail
