Product Development Engineer is responsible for Developing advanced CAE tools to support powertrain design of next generation systems that balance cooling, performance, and fuel economy attributes. Identify and deliver CAE models for future designs and development needs.
Responsibilities:
Develop techniques to optimize control system operation through CAE.
Collaborate with interfacing teams to refine and further develop the model and analysis capability.
Provide upfront system engineering using analytical tools that are emergency efficient and meet program targets for cost and function.
Analyze vehicle performance capability and provide sensitivity studies using 1D vehicle thermal models.
Present work results, power pack system issues, and plans at technical design reviews.
Continuously innovate and search for CAE process improvement focusing on accuracy, CAE capability, CAD to results turn around timing and cost
Interface with Ford global team (global thermal team, Electrical Powertrain, Fuel and Performance and other attributes)
Share and present work to thermal program engineers and leadership
Document all work and results as per the Ford Thermal process to ensure tasks traceability
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science
2+ years of experience in developing physics based models of powertrain and vehicle systems in Plant Based Model system (Modelica or similar language)
1+ years of experience developing user interface for CAE tools
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience applying thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics in automotive or similar products
2+ years of experience developing automotive cooling hardware, front end air flow and thermal countermeasures
2+ years of experience applying CFD tools in automotive thermal systems
Working knowledge of hybrid electric powertrain systems and components
