The Ford Research and Innovation center in Palo Alto works at the beginning of the product and technology development process at Ford Motor Company. We are part of the Research and Advanced Engineering group within Ford Product Development. We work with technology new to Ford and the automotive industry and help set the direction for the company when innovating on new products and services. We have a strong emphasis on software and services with that will help create the experiences and features that will differentiate Ford in the coming decades.
Our Software Research team is growing and seeking a Software Research Supervisor to help drive the future of mobility. Our research topics range from software architecture and operating systems to API frameworks and applications. We’re building a broadly capable team that can tackle the next important software topics. This position is located at Ford’s Research & Innovation Center in Palo Alto, CA.
Responsibilities Include:
Manage and lead a team of software researchers working on advanced software concepts and applications within Ford Research and Advanced Engineering
Help champion modern software development processes within Ford by leading by example
Work with counterparts in other areas to ensure alignment across overlapping areas
Mentor and help develop employees through their careers
Keep local and remote management apprised of project status, including presentations to management
Represent RIC Palo Alto at industry events and conferences
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
3+ years of experience as a software engineer or technical product manager
2+ years of experience managing or supervising a software team
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical
Experience with embedded software development
Automotive experience
