The Ford Global User Experience (UX) Team is a growing team committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that continually inspire our teams and customers to go further.
Our diverse Global UX Team – situated in greater Detroit, Palo Alto, London, Shanghai - is comprised of experience strategists, researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, industrial designers, motion and audio designers, content creators, prototypers, and project managers. Together our team works to understand our changing world, identify new opportunities, and take action to design and innovate for the future of mobility – Ford’s vehicles and surrounding experiences.
We are looking for an Interaction Designer to join us in designing future interactions and experiences for our global customers. As an Interaction Designer, you will apply your passion and expertise to understand our customers, envision future experiences as part of a senior multi-disciplinary team, and lead the design of new interaction examples in and around vehicles in new transport business scenarios. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit Portfolio or samples demonstrating work examples. This position is located in Dearborn, Michigan and relocation may be available.
Responsibilities:
Participate in visioning and concepting exercises; sketch and demonstrate interaction models, design interaction systems and solutions in and around the vehicle (includes digital and physical, connectivity, intelligent systems, and mobility)
Contribute to overall experience strategy and vision, develop scenarios, interaction models, user flows and wireframes
Contribute to tools, processes, best practices and templates/frameworks for interaction design community and UX team
Deliver high-quality interaction models, concepts and designs
Share trends, strategic perspectives, concepts with the Global UX team and key work partners to further develop consumer-centered strategies that align with Ford’s vision, goals, vehicles, services and markets
Job Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), social science , computer science or design
5+ years hands on experience in leading small teams in UX product specifications projects
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), social science, computer science or design
Proven track record of delivering quality design work in dynamic, diverse, fast paced environments across multiple projects on schedule
Experience contributing to user research processes (contextual inquiry, participatory design, concept testing, usability testing, etc.)
High energy and passion for understanding current consumer technology trends and interaction paradigms
Passionate about designing and thinking ‘out-of-the-box’ scenarios
Excellent verbal and written communication
Proficient in taking lead with ill-form projects to initiate product definitions
Proficient with a variety of wire-framing and prototyping tools
Knowledge of CSS/HTML for Web prototyping
Experience with user-centered design
Expertise with interaction design processes, tools, and best practices
Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across all aspects of UX design processes
Creative problem solving and strong communication skills
Strong self-direction and sense of responsibility; exhibiting a high-level of professionalism and attention to detail
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office apps
