Industrial Roundtable was first held in 1980 in the Purdue Memorial Union as an event to provide corporate representatives the opportunity to interact with potential employees from the Purdue College of Engineering. Three years later, it grew too large to be held indoors, and it moved to its current location on Memorial Mall. This location is one or Purdue's landmarks and provides ample space for the large number of companies and students that attend every year.
Industrial Roundtable has been awarded Event of the Year by the National Association of Engineering Student Councils (NAESC) multiple times. The job fair is one of the largest events of its kind and has become a standard for other student-run organizations at campuses across the country. Most recently, NAESC awarded PESC with Best Council in the Nation in 2014.
