Ford MODEL Teams

The Ford Volunteer Corps is harnessing the company’s people power into groups of volunteers we call MODEL Teams. MODEL Teams is a play on the teamwork theme and the legendary Model T car. Spelled another way, MODEL Teams are:

  • The next step in the evolution of the Ford Volunteer Corps
  • Efficient design to maximize our employee volunteer work
  • A better tool to collect data and help tell our story
  • Make it easier to volunteer and focus teams in key areas of need
  • Simple and easy to maneuver in our MODEL Teams system

Employees form MODEL Teams throughout the year and volunteer to help select nonprofit agencies. Last year more than 34,000 salaried employees took advantage of this opportunity to support their local communities. Our Corporate Salaried Volunteer Program allows employees to spend up to 16 hours a year, on company time, working with an approved nonprofit organization. The volunteer work done by our employees not only helps their communities, but it also exposes our employees to valuable leadership experience.

Four times a year, reflecting the four seasons of the Ford Volunteer Corps calendar, MODEL Teams of volunteers in Southeast Michigan take part in Accelerated Action Days. These special days concentrate MODEL Teams on dozens of specific seasonal projects:

  • Promises in Action: addressing the needs of children
  • Better World: the environment takes center stage
  • Community Building: focus on safety and shelter
  • Giving and Sharing: gets full volunteer attention.

Ford volunteers and MODEL Teams…role models for Ford values.
