We're strengthening our relationship with Detroit Public Schools through collaborative programs. During a recent mentoring session, Ford employees were able to listen to students and discuss the importance of education.
Dialogue in Detroit
What are teens thinking about these days? According to Ruddiman Middle School students: chemistry, professional basketball and graduating from school.
The students proudly shared their dreams and goals with 18 Ford volunteer mentors during a three-hour "getting to know you" dialogue session.
Cheers of support erupted at each table of students as the volunteer at their table stood to answer questions about the working world. The young people were not only introduced to career choices they may not have considered, but they also formed a bond with their new friends from Ford.
Discussing the Importance of Education
Created in 1989 as a mentoring tool, the dialogue program is designed to engage young people in conversation with professionals who reinforce the importance of education in our changing world. To date, thousands of young people have experienced the dialogue program.
