In order for Latino communities to develop successfully, it is important to recognize that Latinas play an integral role in community development. Through a program designed to develop women's leadership skills, we work with MANA, A National Latina Organization, to promote the prosperity of Latino communities.
A Program that Benefits Latinas and Communities
Our collaboration with MANA supports the leadership development of women in the Latino community. Part of this collaboration includes the creation of the AvanZamos® Ford Fellowship program in 2002. In 2007, more than 50 Latinas will participate in the program.
Through the AvanZamos® Ford Fellowship program, we strengthen Latinas in their roles as community leaders. The women in this program receive the necessary training to guide the mentors of MANA's National HERMANITAS® Program. HERMANITAS® is a youth leadership development program carried out at the local level that mentors female Latino youth in issues related to higher education and community involvement.
Our collaboration with MANA and our support of its programs enables Latinas to function as leaders and contribute to the prosperity of Latino communities.
