Patrick Schiavone has helped design three generations of pickup trucks — and has helped make the Ford F-150 the world's best-selling truck for 30 years running.
As Ford's design director, trucks, Schiavone is instilling "Built Ford Tough" design into the next generation of Ford trucks and SUVs while further expanding the design of Ford's expressive lineup of crossover vehicles.
Background
Prior to his current position, Schiavone was design director, cars, working on the next generation of Ford sedans and crossovers. That 15-month assignment allowed Schiavone to flex different creative muscles after delivering the design of the current F-Series truck lineup.
In addition to leading the redesign of the F-150, he played a significant role in the design of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator. He also led the design of various concept vehicles, including the Mighty F-350 TONKA and Ford F-150 SVT Lightning Rod.
Schiavone joined Ford in 1988 working on concept designs in the Advanced Studio. After working with Ghia — S.p.A., he became the principal designer of the 1994 Mustang. He was also design manager for the Ford Contour show car, Cougar and Focus.
Schiavone graduated from the College of Creative Studies in Detroit with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Design.
