We believe that it is important to encourage and support Latino students seeking careers in engineering, science and technology. Through this support, Latino professionals can gain greater representation in these fields for the benefit of the entire Latino community.
Events Promoting Engineering, Science and Technology
We work with the key organizers of the Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology Week (HESTEC) to support Latino students seeking careers in engineering, science and technology. HESTEC organizes events at the university campus and throughout the schools of South Texas with the goal of encouraging students of all ages to explore studies and careers in science, engineering, math and technology.
The main HESTEC event is a weeklong conference of more than 2,000 attendees held at the University of Texas-Pan American campus. Organized for students, parents, educators, government officials and program sponsors, the conference allows participants the opportunity to network, learn about the careers that HESTEC supports, and get information about the scholarship fund for those who qualify.
HESTEC also sponsors Community Day. Each year, more than 40,000 people attend this event to learn more about careers in engineering, science and technology.
The support we provide to these HESTEC events enables Latino students to develop careers in engineering, science and technology for their benefit and that of the overall Latino community.
