RAGAN PACES FORD QUALIFYING EFFORTS AT RICHMOND

TRAVIS KVAPIL – No. 28 Discount Tire Ford Fusion (Qualified 34th) – “It was way better than what we had earlier today and I was really happy with how the car drove.  We just didn’t go real fast, but we’ll see.  I feel like we’re gonna be OK.  It’s just like everywhere else we go.  We’ve been in this situation several times this year and we’ve kept our nose clean and raced all the laps and drove a smart race and we end up with a good top-20 finish, and I think that’s what we need to do again tomorrow.  We need to obviously keep our nose clean and work on the car throughout the evening and stay on the lead lap the best we can.  It’s gonna be tough because I think we’re gonna start a ways back, but we just have to work hard and plug along all night and I think we can get a decent finish out of it.”

JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Qualified 20th) – “That’s as fast as I could go.  That was a really good lap for us.  I think our car is really fast in race trim.  I feel really good about it in race trim, but when we made a qualifying run it wasn’t very good.  We made some small adjustments there and when my lap was over I was like, ‘That’s all we’re gonna go.’  I don’t know that I’m happy because we’re gonna end up 20th, but that was pretty good.”

GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 Dish Network Ford Fusion (Qualified 23rd) – “I probably could have got a little more, but I was just real nervous.  We didn’t run that fast on the first lap, so I was really worried about the second lap and not making a mistake.  We ran an eighty-something on that first lap, so I had to be a little bit conservative on that second lap.”

DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion (Qualified 13th) – “I’m content with that.  I’m not happy.  I wish we could have run a low .50 and been there in the top five or top eight, but that’s pretty close to the front.  At least I’ll be able to see the leader when he takes the green on Saturday.  We’ve got a good AAA Ford.  It’s been up under me pretty much all day.  It was a quick practice today and only got a chance to do one qualifying run, so it was kind of a quick afternoon but we’ll take it.  I always like to be a little bit better, but that’s not too bad of a start.”

CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Qualified 19th) – “I think Denny and Mark are so fast.  They did a great job.  I thought we’d be better than that, too, but it’s a 400-lap race and I think our car is pretty good in race trim.  That was the first qualifying run I made, so, hopefully, it will stay in the top 20 and we’ll go get a win here on Saturday night.  A win here would be huge.”
