IRVINE, Calif. – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today announced that Mike Nakashima has been named director of marketing for Mazda North American Operations, reporting to Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of MNAO.
In his new role, Nakashima is responsible for all U.S.-based advertising and marketing operations, including brand development, business planning and global integration. Since joining Mazda in 2004, Nakashima has held several positions; including director, strategic planning, relationship marketing group manager, and project leader, Mexico study team.
David Klan, who most recently held the position, has been appointed general manager, Western Region. Klan joined Mazda in August 2006 from its parent company, Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan, where he was general manager of global brand marketing.
The previous general manager, Western Region, David Marohnic, has been named director of retail development.

Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., Mazda North American Operations oversees the sales, marketing, parts and customer service support of Mazda vehicles in the United States, Canada and Mexico through nearly 900 dealers. Operations in Canada are managed by Mazda Canada, Inc., located in Ontario, Canada, and in Mexico by Mazda Motor de Mexico in Mexico City.
