DAVID RAGAN – No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion (Finished 40th) – WHAT HAPPENED? “I just saw the 88 and 26 wrecking. I saw the 26 and thought he was gonna hit the wall and thought I could go between them. I probably slowed down a little too much. Like I said, I don’t know why they wrecked, but I’m really proud of our AAA Ford Fusion team. We had a pretty good car. We didn’t qualify good, so we were coming from the back and just made a lot of passes all day long and felt like we could get a top 10 depending on how this fuel and rain was gonna play out, but, ultimately, I’m very disappointing in loading up a little too early.” TOUGH DAY IN THE POINTS. “Yeah, it’s a tough day in the points. We hate that you have to go out on a race like this, especially when you’re running well. If you’re in the back, it’s a little easier to go out, but we had a fast car. We had poor track position all day long, but we could pass. If it would have been a 500-mile race, I think we could have made something out of it, but we’ll just have to go to Daytona with our heads up. I think we can make some good things happen. Daytona, Chicagoland, Indy – some good tracks coming up for us and we just have to keep working hard. It’s not over yet.” DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DID RED SOX NATION PROUD? “Yeah, I hope so. We had one of the fastest cars on the track and passed a lot of cars all day long, but we were just in the wrong place at the right time there toward the end of the race. I saw the 26 and 88 separating and if I would have kept a little more speed, I could have gone through the middle before they closed the gap. It’s just very disappointing. I feel like I let down a lot of people today, but we had a good car.”
JAMIE MCMURRAY – No. 26 Irwin Ford Fusion (Finished 41st) – WHAT HAPPENED? “I’m not real sure. I guess the 88 was pitting, but typically when a guy pits the spotter will say something, either theirs to yours or what not. I was just trying to get underneath the 10 car. I’d been running on the apron all day and I was really focused on looking at the outside and seeing where he was and I never saw the 88. I never saw the 88 until I hit him. Typically when guys pit like that the spotters all get together and wave their hands or what not and the spotter never said anything and I was looking at the 10 car on the outside. I was on the apron because that’s where I’d been running all day. I didn’t see Junior until I hit him.” DID THE SPOTTER SAY ANYTHING AFTER? “I don’t know. I’ll find out later.” WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN? “I’d been running on the apron all day and I guess the 88 was pitting. Certainly it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have run into the back of him, but typically the spotters will tell you when someone is pitting. They’ll wave their hands and no one ever said anything. I didn’t see the 88 until I hit him. I still didn’t know who I had hit until I looked afterwards.”
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Finished 21st) – “We would be fourth, fifth or sixth right now if the caution would have come out a lap earlier. It’s unfortunate that that happened. We were just one car away from having a good finish, but we were just off all day. We just need to keep working on our stuff and get better. None of us were very good today.”
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Finished 18th) – “We didn’t run as good as I hoped. I thought the car was better than that and it really wasn’t, plus we could never get track position. We couldn’t get on pit road and the way the race played out, we just couldn’t do anything except for about what we did. With the rain and all, some people pitted and some people didn’t. I think we did the right thing. We did what all the rest of the guys in front of us did and it just didn’t work out.”
