OAKVILLE, Ontario, September 3, 2008 – Crossover utility vehicles continue to be hot sellers in August for Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. The versatility of crossovers appeals to Canadians who are looking for a spacious, capable vehicle that can keep refuelling costs in line.
"Crossovers are a hit with Canadian consumers," said David Mondragon, who was recently named president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "They offer drivers the capability and features they are looking for in a vehicle that will transport their families and their gear, with no compromises."
Sales of Lincoln vehicles grew 32.2 per cent in August compared to same month last year, with a 28.3 per cent increase in Lincoln MKX sales and a 50 per cent increase in Lincoln Town Car sales.
In August, Ford of Canada's overall sales decreased 10.2 per cent to 20,764 units. Total truck sales were down 5.4 per cent at 16,554 units and total car sales of 4,210 units mark a 25.3 per cent decrease compared to last August.
