BRENTWOOD, Essex – 18 June, 2008 -- Ford S-MAX has been named winner in the large MPV category at the British Insurance Car Security Awards for the second year running.
The Awards rate vehicles according to their resistance to theft and break-ins and are backed by Thatcham, the Department for Transport, UK Insurers and supported by the Home Office. The S-MAX achieved the highest score with Galaxy a close second - scooping the key awards in the highly competitive large MPV category.
Standard security features on the S-MAX include Thatcham Category 1 alarms, remote-control deadlocks, engine immobiliser and visible VIN numbers. The inclination (tilt) sensor was also a key factor in the overall result.
John Cooper, Director of Customer Service Division said: “Our security engineers continue to design the best features to support crime prevention - and again it's our customer that benefits."
“Ford knows what’s important to buyers when it comes to security and the S-MAX delivers – it’s a worthy winner once again,” said Steve Fowler, Group Editor, What Car? Magazine.
