September Highlights:
- Ford Focus sales rose 5%
- Ford Edge sales registered a 22% increase, for record September sales
- Ford Escape sales increased 2%, for the best ever September sales
- Ford Crown Victoria sales were up 19% in September
- Lincoln vehicles realized a 37% sales increase last month
- Lincoln MKZ sales were up 4%
- Lincoln MKX sales increased 78%, for the best September sales on record
OAKVILLE, Ontario, October 1, 2008 – September sales for Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited were powered by positive year-over-year sales increases on several of its crossovers and cars. Sales increased last month on Ford Focus, Ford Escape, Ford Edge and also rose for Lincoln MKX and Lincoln MKZ. Sales momentum also continued on the company's newest entries – Ford Flex and Lincoln MKS.
"As our September sales have shown, Ford delivers on our customers' needs through vehicles across our line-up, including Ford Focus, which continues to be embraced by Canadians and offers dynamic features like SYNC™ technology in a fun-to-drive car," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "Also popular among Canadians for decades is Ford F-150, which registered a 9.3 per cent sales increase in September. Poised to arrive in Ford dealerships across Canada this month, all-new 2009 Ford F-150 sets a new benchmark in the full-size pickup segment with more capability, more choice and more 'smart' features."
Lincoln vehicles in Canada registered a sales increase of 37.1 per cent in September on the strength of Lincoln MKX and Lincoln MKZ. Lincoln's newest entry to the market, the full-size Lincoln MKS sedan, continued to attract customers to Lincoln with strong sales last month.
In September, Ford of Canada's overall sales decreased 6.4 per cent to 13,000 units. Total truck sales were down 6.9 per cent at 9,776 units and total car sales of 3,224 units mark a 4.9 per cent decrease compared to last September.
